It is never too late for a new beginning.
At the University of Nebraska’s spring football game, a 7 year old boy with brain cancer was brought onto the field and given the football for one play.
What is your excuse, again?
Right now, you are reading this and there are quite a few things going on in your head. Some of these things are good, while others might be bad. Some of them make you happy, while others might make you sad. You may even feel an insecurity or two. Even though we have never met face to face, I want you to know something.
Despite all of the things in your mind that are trying to pull you down, despite all of the people who said it could not be done, despite all of the heartache and pain; know that it is going to be ok.
There will come a time in the very near future when you will wake up and take a breath. As your lungs fill with air, so will your heart. Your soul and body will breathe as one and you will be reborn. You will look to your pain and see it as a distant dream to be forgotten in lieu of new horizons, adventures, and love.
You can do it, I believe in you.
-A Friend You Have Not Met Yet
We all need that motivation, that little voice in your head that will push you when nothing else does. This is my voice in my head that i’d like to share with you.
“So, here you are. Despite the doubts in your mind, the hardest part has come and gone. The choice. The choice to be here. The courage to put it on the line is the greatest victory that no one can take away from you.
You will be pushed. You will feel a burn, a pain. But you know what? You will get through it. I promise. I know this because I know your heart. I know that it will continue to beat. That beat will carry your body when your limbs are too weak.
You will stumble, you will fall down. That’s OK so long as you get back up. No matter what, hold your chin up high.
Here is what I want you to do. Picture in your mind someone who you love. Someone who you cherish, whose words will carry you. Hold on to them. Then, when you feel like you cannot carry on let those words echo in your mind.
‘GET UP! GET UP! YOU CAN DO IT, WANNA KNOW WHY? BECAUSE I LOVE YA!’
Let the words transcend your mind, spur your heart. Get UP! You are already a champion in your own mind! No one, I mean, NO ONE can take that away from you!”
I really like this. Enjoy.

When I was growing up I was raised on some very basic principles. Treat others as you would like to be treated and keep your hands to yourself. These same principles are taught in almost every single kindergarten classroom in the country. Maybe I am just naive to think that everyone will follow these ideas. That would explain why I am surprised when someone acts against them.
I am not a saint in anyway. I mean, I have made every mistake a 26 year old man can make. I spend recklessly, I have picked women over family, and I have broken more hearts than I would like to admit in a lifetime. The difference is, there are some of us who take these things that happen to us and turn them into something useful. Some of us take these things and use them to grow, to become a little bit of a better person than we were the day before.
Maybe I am just naive but I like to believe that in everyone there is a small child who just wants to play, make friends, and grow.
Yeah, I am just naive…
